Most freeware/indiegame devs can't be arsed to develop for linux, nevermind release their code. So here's a list for my trials of running some of their awesome games on the definitive awesome OS.
Unless stated otherwise, I usually use defaults, but in winecfg i alternate between ALSA and OSS to find which works better. for DirectSound Hardware Acceleration i use the "Emulaton" option and tick Driver Emulation.
- N: Works.
- I think because it's a Flash game. tested on Wine0.9.9 and above.
- Cave Story: Works.
- I didn't test the installation and transaltion patching but many people confirmed it works.
- Tested on Wine 0.9.9. Everything works although i get the feeling it's a tiny bit sluggish.
- Sue's Workshop: Works.
- This is a map editor mod maker for cave story. Works perfectly i guess. Tested on Wine 0.9.22.
- Within A Deep Forest : Works.
- Tested on Wine 0.9.22. Use Alsa Audio.
- The first ball material's jump sound is kinda buggy and slows the game down (buffer overflow). I dunno how to fix this.
- Fullscreen is buggy.
- Knytt : Works.
- Works on 0.9.9 with sound.
- Hero: Works. But Sound is glitchy and annoying.
- Works okay except for sound.
- Eternal Daughter: Works? (sorta.)
- It runs with and endlesss repeating error on terminal. it sorta fscks the desktop up. it doesn't get it's own window, but is'nt fullscreen either.
- Perfromance is not perfect. sound runs with ALSA.
- It's playable. but i couldn't really bear playing it in stuch a state.
- A Game With a Kitty: Works.
- Everything runs okay on Wine 0.9.22 except fullscreen :/
- Dwarf Fortress: Works.
- Again, all except fullscreen on 0.9.22
- Lyle in Cube Sector: Works.
- Wine 0.9.22
- Starts in pseudo-fullscreen. you can get out of it by left alt+enter.

Too bad there are so few
Too bad there are so few games for Linux. I'm sick of windows and its imperfections. I'm currently working on a Online Backgammon version that can be played and kept on a linux computer.
I tried a game whit a kitty
I tried a game whit a kitty but it doesn't work.I guess it's not the same game.
